further proof that I'm crafty as fuck

My sister in law Kate sent me pictures of the scarves I knit for her and my sister Molly. Although true to form, she dressed up their dogs in the scarves. Whoever wrote the book "Animals Should Definitely Not Wear Clothing" never had a chance to see this!

Kate's middle name is Rose, and Molly's middle name is Orange, so for their 10 year anniversay I knit them scarves of their namesakes. My intention was that Molly would take the rose and Kate would take the orange, but as soon as they unwrapped them they swapped. Such is life.

The models are Out-in-the-Shed wearing a stunning rose red "my-so-called-scarf" which is a one wrap, two button number sure to make the bitches howl. In orange we have Miss Ida Richelieu wearing a similar patter in orange, accenting her coloring and giving a general sliming effect to her neck and chest.

Crafty as fuck

My summer is progressing, although not with the same regular schedule I had anticipated, and the things that draw my attention are also not exactly as I had anticipated.

For one thing, I've become a bit crafty. This is largely brought on by Christie's uber-craftiness, and her teaching me how to knit. I've completed three scarflette's (aka my so-called scarf, aka Scholar Collars) and one three quarters length scarf.

The above brown scarflette is one I gave as a greatly belated birthday gift to my friend Gabi.

This one was a birthday gift for Maria. It made use of the extra yarn from Gabi's scarflette and the orange one I made for Molly, my sister.

While Christie was in Europe getting her teeth knocked out I was using her kitchen to block my scarfs, only to have her inform me when she returned that mostly acrylic scarfs don't block too well.

And of course, a watched scarf never blocks.

Pictures of Molly and Kate's 10th Anniversary scarflettes to come. As soon as they send them.

Next up is a Windy City Scarf for myself, that my sister-in-law Kate is going to make at the same time, and come autumn we'll compare. This one is for me. Christie and I went to the yarn store and she patiently helped me pick out the right yarn and needles, and gave some sage advice on colors- which was difficult because our favored palates couldn't be different. She likes bright, sherbet colors and I like dark muted colors. I also got my very own knitting bag (for FREE) and the nice ladies balled my yarn (hello!)

I also taught CW how to make bowls out of old LPs, which was a pretty big success. I didn't get pictures of her bowls (she's modest that way, OH SNAP!) but they are fairly similar to mine (eww, gross).

Oh, and I made an ashtray out of the awesome 45 I found for $1 at Landlocked.
